Release Notes for Xslimmer 1.5.2
Description
Xslimmer 1.5.2 improves the previously existing support for Leopard code-signing technology, making it possible to safely slim signed applications that access the keychain, such as Adium or Mail.app. In addition, the registration window now allows the user to remotely retrieve his license using his purchase data, even if his license file was not received by email. This upgrade is recommended to all users.
New features
- Support for signed apps that access the keychain. Even though previous versions of Xslimmer recognized apps signed with Leopard's new code signing technology, slimming was not fully reliable if those apps happened to use the keychain. Apps such as Mail.app or the recently released Adium 1.2.4 asked for account passwords every time they were launched. This has been fixed in this release after we have been able to test with the increasing number of signed applications being made available. As a result, Xslimmer is now fully compliant with the code signing specification, and compatibility has been greatly improved in Leopard. Apps like Safari, Adium or Mail.app, some of which had been blacklisted in previous versions, can now be safely slimmed.
- Remote License Key Retrieval. Our customers can now optionally retrieve their license file directly from within Xslimmer, using the email address they used for the purchase and the transaction ID returned in PayPal's receipt. This will make it easier to work around cases where our emails are delayed or never delivered because of hazards such as mails being classified as spam, or attachments not being accepted by some organizations. License delivery delays are a frequent cause of unnecessary frustration that we are trying to solve with this additional registration option.
- Minor visual improvements
